Those units were enlarged version of the French minelaying submarines Saphir class. These vessels were good sea boats but they were noisy, their external fuel tanks gave off oil leakage even with slight damage and their minelaying system was unreliable. As war goes off they were to old and they need repairs.

During building of Wilk class submarines, Spain proposed to Polish Navy completed submarine smaller then building Polish submarines. Polish commission with cpt. Kamienski in chief carried out an inspecion of the ship in Valenica, with positive opinion. Ship received working name Kuna. But for unknown causes ship wasn't bought by Polish Navy. Later sold to Turkey and renamed Gur.
